Lauren Elkin is the author of Flâneuse: Women Walk the City (Chatto/FSG), which was a Radio 4 Book of the Week and one of the New York Times' Notable 100 books of 2017. In September 2021 she will publish No. 91/92: a diary of a year on the bus (Semiotext(e)/Les Fugitives) as well as her translation of Simone de Beauvoir's recently re-discovered novel The Inseparables (Vintage Classics). She is currently at work on her next book, Art Monsters (Chatto/FSG), which argues for an aesthetics of monstrosity uniting art by women over the last century. Her writing on literature and art has appeared in the London Review of Books, the Guardian, and frieze, among other publications.
